This is the only motherboard in the market with 2x PCIe 8x, one 4x and another 1x. Most motherboards waste the space filling it with plastic or Christmas tree decoration, this one at least can handle a GPU, a dual 10Gbit NIC and a couple of HBAs. Support for Windows Server 2019/2022 is really bad, google "AMD Software: PRO Edition" and you might be able to find Radeon drivers for the integrated GPU. For the chipset drivers I had to find an enterprise motherboard based on the B650 chipset and use its Windows Server drivers. The onboard SATA controller is rubbish, about 100Mb/s writing to an Samsung SSD that should reach 500MB/s easily (this was from a 7,000+ MB/s NVMe, a Samsung 990 Pro @ PCIe x4). Also had issues detecting some drives and in some cases I wasn't even able to boot until I disconnected one of the problematic SSDs. You are better off disabling the SATA controller in the BIOS and forgetting it exists. Speaking about disabling stuff, remember to disable the Asus Armory Crate FILTH in the BIOS or Asus will install a rootkit into your Windows machine with a dozen data collection services, scheduled tasks and random popups all over the place that will bring your machine to its knees. I'm not sure how this is even legal, if there was any other AM5 motherboard with a decent PCIe layout I would have returned this one just for this reason. The onboard NICs are also garbage, thankfully I didn't plan to use them, but I cannot believe we are in 2024 and MB vendors are selling 2.5Gbps ethernet as something amazing. the NICs were not detected by Windows Server 2019 (no drivers from Realtek either), 2022 did detect them but only the 2.5Gbps one works, the 1Gbps one I haven't been able to make it work. Anyway, both are disabled now, get a Mellanox ConnectX-3, 2x10Gbps for £30 and don't waste time with the onboard ethernet. With the last BIOS update it can handle 4x 48GB RAM DDR5 @5200 (192GB!), this is with a 7950X, not even a 9000 series, which are supposed to improve RAM support, and so far it has been solid. It's not easy to get all 4 modules working with AM5, let alone so much memory at decent speeds. I'm very pleased with this. After disabling the onboard NICs, integrated GPU, SATA controller, onboard audio and USB4 controller, the machine is a beast, very fast, very snappy, very reliable. I just wish that instead of wasting PCIe lanes with poor onboard I/O, vendors just gave us more PCIe lanes so we can use proper hardware instead, remove all the Aura LED BS and maybe vendors could save enough money for a proper 7-segment display for debugging or even a decent onboard 10Gbps NIC. Me tocó la mala suerte de tener problemas, me enviaron reemplazo y ya pude probarla en condiciones. Las especificiaciones del anuncio dicen 3 puertos M.2 y un Pcie gen4 x4, allá contaba meter un cuarto ssd, no es posible al compartir puerto el pcie y el tercer M.2. Por lo demás es una cucada maquinón. Un punto muy bueno es el puerto USB, con refuerzo de carga desde la fuente para cargas rápidas o dispositivos de alto consumo,. I bought this board specifically for machine learning to run multiple GPUs. I've had serious trouble wth previous boards, running multiple GPUs. This seems to be one of the few consumer boards that also supports x8/x8 PCIe bifurcation so both GPU's get 8 lanes, instead one 16 and the other 2 or 4. Everything is great.
